Bio

Brooke Alfaro is a renowned Panamanian artist born in Panama City in 1949. The son of a Panamanian father and an American mother, he began his primary education at a boarding school in Switzerland and completed it at a Jesuit school in Panama. He later attended high school in the Panama Canal Zone and the United States.
In 1976, he earned a degree in Architecture from the University of Panama, where he was taught by distinguished architects and artists such as Guillermo Trujillo and Alberto Dutary. After working as an architect and photographer for several years, he decided to deepen his passion for art and studied painting at the Art Students League of New York.
Alfaro's artistic career took off in 1979 with his first solo exhibition at the gallery of the Panamanian Institute of Art, Panarte. Since then, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in countries such as Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Spain, and the United States. His work has been recognized in various biennials and international competitions, establishing him as one of Panama’s most prominent contemporary artists.
Alfaro's work is characterized by a focus on the human figure, presenting narrative compositions that challenge the viewer. Although his works do not tell specific stories, they aim to evoke emotions and reflections in those who observe them. In addition to painting, he has explored sculpture, installations, and video art, demonstrating a constant evolution and refinement in his artistic practice.
