Statement

Rooted in literature, history, and the existential quest of the human spirit, Emily Zhukov creates artworks that evoke universal feelings, emotions, and sensations. In her sculptures, the artist references the human body and language to create metaphors and allusions rich with multiple meanings. Through the juxtaposition of diverse elements and materials, her works convey an ambiguity both in substance and in interpretation.
Her creative process is grounded in observing our contemporary context, where the interaction between humans and nature produces a complex visual order of unlikely combinations that invite new readings. This is expressed through her frequent use of recycled elements. Her most recent works explore the relationship between the individual and collective experience of time and territory.
