Leslie Molina
Bio
Leslie Molina is a Venezuelan artist based in Mexico City whose works include fiber art, painting, installations, and performances.
She is inspired by the distortions and disruptions to our sense of coherence and stability that cannot be seen, but only felt in our lived experience. Instead of portraying these scenes as frightening or uncomfortable, she allows them the possibility of peace.
She worked as a graphic designer and illustrator before moving on to working fully as an interdisciplinary artist. Her work has been exhibited in private and public collections internationally, including the Colors Festival in Paris and the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago. She has had multiple solo exhibitions in Panama City and Mexico.
Statement
As a child, I would draw until the tip of my pencil disappeared between my fingers and the paper. As an adult, I lost my country and escaped into imagined worlds. II have developed the conviction that one can create infinitely with almost nothing.
I continue creating in search of truth. What I know so far is that truth is elastic, and I am following that endless thread, floating through space and time.
